Stephen G. Preas, MD

Stephen Preas has been practicing psychiatry since he finished the Emory Program in 1980. He is board certified and has served as chief of staff of Parkwood Hospital, President of the Georgia Society for Adolescent Psychiatry and, also, the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association. He was also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Emory University for 20 years, and is an Emeritus Member of the Saint Joseph's Hospital Ethics Committee.
In 2000, he was named Psychiatrist of the Year by the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association. In 2003, he was awarded the Medal of Fellowship by the American Psychiatric Association; and, in 2004, he was elevated to Distinguished Fellow.
He is a member of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons, American Psychiatric Association, and Christian Medical Dental Association. In 1996, he published a self help DVD and CD entitled: "Self and Self-Esteem: Is There a Hole in Your Bucket?"
He has faced his own fears as a pilot, scuba diver, and ocean sailor, much less professional speaker. He was also a member of the National Speakers Association.
He has spoken on issues of addiction, codependency, personality disorders, human development, adolescence, and self image. He has been sponsored by numerous Pharmaceutical Corporations to teach Psychopharmacology. |
